How is gratuity calculated?
Under the Payment of Gratuity Act, 1972, gratuity is calculated as: (Basic Salary + DA) × 15 × Years of Service ÷ 26. If the employee has served more than 6 months in the final year, the service period is rounded up by one year. Gratuity is normally payable after a minimum of 5 years of continuous service.
